Family Staycation

A few weeks ago Steven was able to take some time off for a Family Staycation. We started our fun on Monday morning. We drove to This is the Place Heritage Park! If you have never been, GO! It was so much fun.
It is a pioneer village filled with original houses as well as some duplicates.

There was a petting farm that had the friendliest animals in it. (Too friendly for Kennedy's liking) But Mckay was in heaven. The kids all took a turn riding the ponies.

Here we are at the tithing house making cloth dolls and Brenden made an arrowhead necklace.

There was a little stream that every panned for Gold in. We found some fools gold that we took the the bank and had weighed.

Even Brenden got in the pioneer spirit. He stopped at the Barber shop for a shave while we all watched the fun.

One of my favorite activities was the Indian Dance Show. It was amazing and very funny.
We packed a lunch and ate there in the social hall. When we were all hot and had seen all there was to see we checked into a Hotel in WVCity. We choose this Hotel because it had a water park right there in the Hotel. The kids LOVED it! It even had a water slide. We swam until dinner and then swam until bed. We swam the next morning until it was time to check out. We really spend most of our time in the pool. :)

Tuesday morning we headed into Downtown SLC. We visited Temple square and the visitor center. We walked over the Church history museum where there was a children's area that was a lot of fun.

We walked through City Creek and looked at all the beautiful landscaping, had lunch at the Cheese Cake Factory and then decided we were ready to go home. And maybe a nap.
